Wednesday Links (Relating to Solange Knowles)

25 Apr

Sorry, guys, all I care about right now is Solange Knowles.

This article by Kate Spencer was on HelloGiggles yesterday, and it pretty clearly outlines why Solange is the best human being ever.

Her blog is called My Damn Blog, and it’s full of pictures of her looking gorgeous. I mean, that outfit in the picture above? I need it!

And obviously Sandcastle Disco is the best song ever recorded.

Oh, and she was on Yo Gabba Gabba because DUH OF COURSE SHE WAS.

I used to think Beyonce was the most beautiful woman in the world, but now I just don’t know what to think. I hope you guys will support me in my time of questioning.

5 Steps For Taking Criticism A Little Better from The Tangential

-It was my favorite thing to ever be on The Hairpin, and now Ghost is back! I laughed out loud at the beginning, and by the end I was teary. Mallory Ortberg, you play with my heart!

-This Candied Walnut, Pear, and Leafy Green Salad is always a hit. Also I could eat bowls of it.

-This article from Writer’s Digest is called How To Write A Book When You’re Really, Really Busy, but it’s basically just good time management advice. Some of us (me) should pay attention.

-Have you guys checked out the leaked script for Mrs. Doubtfire 2?

-If you don’t follow David Lynch on Twitter, you probably should. A sample gem: “Dear Twitter Friends, I like to watch & count birds in the morning. I’ve made friends with a humming bird.” I love him so much.

Links, Links, Links!

Are you getting tired of reading the things I write? Well, first off, you are reading the wrong blog. Either way, here’s a list of links to things that aren’t by me!

-Actually good advice: 31 Things I’ve Learned in 31 Years

-Lauren turned a terrible situation (NOSEBLEED!) into comedy gold.

-Joy the Baker’s recipes are always great, but I’ve been thinking a lot about making these Salty Sesame and Dark Chocolate Chip Cookies

-I really love Michael Cera. I don’t understand why anyone would dislike him. His seems to really go in for absurd, strange humor, he has a good straight face, and his real personality is a mystery. I mean, what is Michael Cera doing right now? I wouldn’t even hazard a guess. His episode of WTF with Marc Maron is a keeper!

-I hope you’re reading my brother’s blog. He wrote about his Death Row Meal.

-Are you guys on Pinterest? I am! I’m medium-active on it, and I really enjoy it. You may have heard that it’s mostly used by women, which is why everyone’s so dismissive of it. Of course any social networking site used primarily by women must be totally vapid and useless! Whatevs, it’s a good place to put my Cher pictures.

-I love this article on Time.com: How We Can All Be ‘Creative Types’.

-Rob Delaney’s rules for How to “Make It” in Comedy are basically good advice for just about everything.

-I’m really into this song by the band Sucre. It reminds me of a less-dark St. Vincent.

-I know I wrote about how much I love the JV Club, but the episode with Gillian Jacobs? Oh, Lordy. I laughed out loud, alone in my car, at her stories about her grandma. This will make you fall in love with Gillian Jacobs, I’m warning you. I’ll say it again: this is a great podcast!
